Bose shape oscillations
Shape oscillations of a Bose condensate observed at MIT. The trapping potential was perturbed with a time-dependent field, and the cloud was then allowed to oscillate freely for a variable time ranging from 16 ms (top) to 48 ms (bottom). The clouds were observed by switching off the trap and letting the atoms expand ballistically for 40 ms.
