Building a nano coax

The coaxial cable is based around a carbon nanotube (a), which is grown on a glass substrate. The nanotube is then coated with aluminium oxide (b) followed by chromium (c). The nanotubes were grown in arrays by a process pioneered by Boston College's Zhifeng Ren. (Courtesy Jakub Rybczynski of Boston College).
