Manganese decay

How the decay fluctuations of manganese–54 correlate with solar flares in late 2006. The black dots represent the number of decays per second (on a logarithmic scale), while the red dots represent the flux of X-rays detected by satellites. The red arrows point to times when spikes in X-ray flux — generated by solar flares — coincide with dips in the decay rate of the manganese. (Credit Jenkins et al.)
