With 574 distinct physics degrees on offer at universities in the UK, there would appear to be little need for any more. However, a
report published this month by the Institute of Physics makes a strong case for what it calls "a new degree drawing heavily upon
physics - being more interdisciplinary in focus and accessible by undergraduates with more modest mathematical experience".
