Farside of the Moon

An image of a 75 km wide impact crater, called King, located in the highland regions on the farside of the Moon. The image was taken using multi-spectral cameras on board the Clementine spacecraft. The red areas represent mature highland rocks and soils while the blue areas show the freshly excavated material. The rocks and soil thrown up by the impact are clearly highlighted by the bright blue rays to the left of the crater.
