4 Breakdown into irregularity
Using an anatomically accurate model of the canine heart, it is possible to simulate the activity of the heart as a spiral wave on the surface (scroll wave through the heart) that breaks down and leads to ventricular fibrillation. In this model the breakdown into fibrillation is produced by rotational anisotropy between one side of the heart wall and the other.
