Cool customer - Deborah Jin of JILA reveals the false-colour images that represent the momentum distribution of a fermionic condensate formed from potassium-40 atoms. The JILA team used a magnetic field to change the strength of the interaction between atoms and was also able to make the atoms form bosonic pairs. As the magnetic field is tuned towards the scattering resonance (left to right) the interaction strength between the atoms increases. Credit: NIST/University of Colorado.
