machines and humans, and this interface is
set to become more important as we progress
into an age in which displays and computers
are embedded in almost everything.
For many years, advances in display technology
have been driven by materials research.
Materials such as amorphous silicon, liquid
crystals and organic light-emitting plastics
have literally transformed the world we live
in and the way we see it.
