Microwave "haze"

Earlier this year Douglas Finkbeiner observed excess microwave emission from the centre of our galaxy from WMAP data, which could be the result of synchrotron emission from highly relativistic electron-positron pairs produced by dark-matter particle annihilation. These figures show this microwave "haze" within 180° of the galactic centre, from which two different models of the foreground have been subtracted. Ordinary synchrotron emission appears reddish, while dust appears blue.
