3 Enhanced combination

BP's Decarbonised Fuel-1 project in the North Sea will combine carbon capture through enhanced oil recovery with production of hydrogen fuel. Some of the natural gas coming onshore will be used to create hydrogen and carbon dioxide. The hydrogen will then be burned at a power station on the north-east coast of Scotland, while the captured CO2 will be piped to the depleted Miller oilfield. There it will be used to help recover the last oil from the field, while itself being locked away underground.
