Atom lasers
One of the most active areas of research in quantum physics is atom lasers. An atom laser is a collimated beam of atoms all moving with the same velocity, just like the photons in a laser beam. In addition to technological applications, atom lasers could be used in experiments that probe the foundations of quantum mechanics (see Physics World August 1999 p33).
