Enzyme activity

The biological activity of an enzyme called lysozyme is monitored by observing how the height of the tip varies with time. (a) The enzyme is in a buffer solution to prevent it from reacting with the substrate. (b) The height fluctuations are evidence for the reaction between the enzyme and the substrate. (c) An inhibitor is added which binds to the enzyme and destroys the biological activity.
