Modelling and simulations are necessary tools for accelerated understanding, design optimization and design of automatic control of batteries and battery systems. They allow for the analysis of an almost unlimited number of design parameters and operating conditions to a relatively small cost. Experimental observations serve as the necessary verification and validation of the model.
