Where do I start on a custom design?

During the initial consultation, our technical sales staff will discuss with you the specifics of your application. After exploring potential solutions from our standard product line, we will define the parameters of your unique system. Among the questions we generally ask are:

  • How many axes of motion are required?
  • How much displacement (per axis) is required?
  • Does the application require high speed movement?
  • Are there environmental or other external parameters which we should consider in the design, such as vacuum compatibility or interfacing with other instruments?
  • Are there any dimensional limitations?
  • What is the typical mass load?

Once the parameters are defined, our technical sales staff consult with our engineering team on refining a custom design for your application. A preliminary design is usually in your hands within days of your initial consultation. Once a final design is agreed upon, a formal price quotation is issued with an estimated lead time. Typical lead time for custom systems are 60 days. We have designed custom systems for applications in thin film fabrication, microscopy, inspection, biological systems and aerospace.
