Conference
8th Position Sensitive Detectors Conference, PSD8
The 8th International Conference on Position Sensitive Detectors (PSD8) will be held at the University of Glasgow, Scotland, from the 1st to the 5th of September 2008. The conference, held every three years, sets out to explore recent scientific and technical developments of position-sensitive radiation detector systems, including those for visible light detection, used in a range of applications, including; astronomy, astro-particle physics, astrophysics, condensed matter studies, industrial applications, life sciences, medical applications, nuclear physics, particle physics, space science, and synchrotron based science.
The conference aims to bring together PSD scientists from a wide range of end user disciplines in a workshop atmosphere of debate and discussion. To this end all presentations will take place in plenary sessions divided according to the underlining technology or end use. Each session will start with a key note speaker who will outline the exciting developments in a given field followed by the session consisting of 15 minute talks with ample time for questions and discussion. There will be two dedicated poster sessions and an industrial exhibition in the main hall of the conference facility. The oral and poster presentations will be published in a special issue of Nuclear Instruments and Methods (NIMA).
