MUARC and MPAGS Winter School
The University of Nottingham Winter School
The MUARC and MPAGS 2009 Ultra-cold Atom Winter School will take place at the University of Nottingham on 13th - 15th December. If you would like to attend please download the appropriate application form below. Submission details are included on each form.
The MUARC Winter School provides an introduction to the fascinating regimes of quantum physics that can be realised when atoms are cooled to within a few billionths of a degree of absolute zero using fridges made from light and magnets.
It is open to undergraduates and postgraduates and is sponsored by the Cold-atom physics group in the School of Physics and Astronomy. All meals, hotel accommodation, and local transport will be provided.
The school will involve “Christmas Lecture” style presentations by speakers from the Schools of Physics and Astronomy at the Universities of Nottingham and Birmingham on a range of topics including:
New “atom chip” devices that use electronics and ultracold atoms to visualise quantum systems and electric, magnetic, and gravitational fields with unprecedented precision and resolution
Quantum computing and communication
Optical lattices and crystals made from light.”
