The first International Workshop on Theoretical and Computational Physics (IWTCP-1): Condensed Matter, Soft Matter and Materials Physics

The First International Workshop on Theoretical and Computational Physics (IWTCP-1) will be held on July 30 – August 2, 2013 in Da Nang, a beautiful and the biggest city on the South Central Coast of Vietnam. It is co-organized by the Institute of Physics – Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (IOP-VAST), Hanoi University of Science - Vietnam National University (HUS-VNU), Vietnam National University at Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM), The University of Da Nang (UD) and the National Foundation for Science and Technology Development (NAFOSTED).

The IWTCP-1 is a new activity of the Vietnamese Theoretical Physics Society (VTPS) organized in association with the 38th National Conference on Theoretical Physics (NCTP), the most well-known annual scientific forum dedicated to the dissemination of the latest development in the field of theoretical physics within the country.

The overriding goal of the IWTCP is to provide an international forum of scientists and engineers from academia to share ideas, problems and solution relating to the recent advances in theoretical physics as well as in computational physics which represents an essential component of modern research in bridging the gap between theoretical and experimental physics. The main IWTCP motivation is to foster scientific exchanges between the Vietnamese theoretical and computational physics community and world-wide scientists as well as to promote high-standard level of research and education activities for young physicists in the country.

The IWTCP-1 will be focusing on Condensed Matter, Soft Matter and Material Physics. The five topics of the workshop have been selected and emphasized to meet the highest interests of current research activities in Vietnam and in the same time strongly connected to advanced aspects of theoretical and computational physics at international level. The IWTCP-1 program will include interesting and fruitful key-note and invited talks presented by leading experts in the world and contributed oral and poster sessions.

This meeting will be an excellent occasion for the Vietnamese and international physicists to discuss about research and collaborative projects inside one of the most developed economic centres in Vietnam. Furthermore, Da Nang has considerable charm in its own right. The city is surrounded of several UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the Imperial City Hue, the Old Town of Hoi An, the My Son ruins. Therefore, it will be also a good opportunity for our guests and participants to discover around and explore beautiful beaches.
