The BSCG, created in 1978 as the Brazilian School of Cosmology and Gravitation, has an average period of two years. It organizes intensive and advanced courses for the training and updating of Brazilian and foreign researchers, as well as exhibitors and scientists from various countries. Each of these courses corresponds to an edited publication, sometimes by the American Institute of Physics (New York), sometimes by Cambridge University Press.

The BSCG proved to be an important agglutination factor for researchers in the field, recycling, discussion and formation of new research groups, especially in our country. The BSCG has an international committee of great scientific representation, and is currently formed by the following scientists:

E. Kolb (Fermilab, USA), V. Melnikov (Institute of Metrology, Russia), A. Dolgov (Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare, Italy), B.Mashhoon (University of Missouri, USA), U. Moschella (University of Insubria , Italy) and M. Novello (Chairman, CEAC / CBPF).

Local committee: M. Novello, S. Jorás and M. Makler.
