Glen Spectra introduces new filter sets for 15 fluorescent proteins Sep 10, 2007

Glen Spectra have recently introduced fifteen new filter sets for the rapidly growing palette of fluorescent proteins and applications.

The new filter sets are now available for Invitrogen’s Vivid Colours, Clontech’s Living Colours, and MBL’s Coral Hues as well as the fluorescent proteins developed in the lab of Dr. Roger Tsien at University of California San Diego.

Fluorescent proteins (FP) are increasingly popular because of their effectiveness in live cell imaging applications. These filter sets have been optimised for high signal-to-noise making them very attractive in these typically light starved applications. All of Glen Spectra’s FP filter sets are manufactured using proprietary ALPHA technology, which produces extremely steep slopes and accurate band placement, thus maximizing excitation and emission energy and minimising background. With the addition of these new sets, Glen Spectra now has optimised sets for a total of 35 proteins.

These new Fluorescent Protein filter sets complement an extensive catalog of dye-specific fluorescence filter sets for all single and multi-label microscopy applications, including Quantum Dots, FRET, M-FISH, Pinkel, Sedat, Ratio Imaging, Confocal, and Multi-photon.
