New Monolithic C-MOS Profile Sensors Jun 6, 2008

Unlike a conventional image sensor that outputs a signal from each individual C-MOS pixel, the profile sensor provides an "x" and "y" output only, thus giving the position, shape and magnitude of any incident light spots. The advantage of this profile sensor over conventional 2-D image sensors is the output is very simple to handle (just x and y co-ordinate data) and thus the projection profile of a light spot can be analysed very simply and very quickly.
