FDSS/RayCatcher from Hamamatsu May 15, 2009

A novel bioluminescence and chemiluminescence imager has been developed by Hamamatsu Photonics for High Throughput Screening of large compound libraries.

The FDSS/RayCatcher can measure 1536, 384, and 96 well plate formats and has been developed to meet the needs of investigators using bioluminescence and radioisotope assays. Research areas that can be studied using this system include enzyme assays, receptor binding and reporter gene assays. It uses a newly developed highly sensitive cooled 2D photon counting camera, combined with high efficiency optics to give ultra-sensitive signal detection between 350nm and 720nm. The camera collects light from the wells of the plate simultaneously so that 1536 plates are imaged as rapidly as 384 well plates. The luciferase detection limit is at least 0.01pg/well and it is the most suitable HTS system for not only luciferase reporter gene assays but also several kinetic or time-lapse applications.
