The redundancy switch modules are designed to overcome this problem.it use 1+1 dedicated protection.it is compatible to use with 1000base gbic from other companies,like cisco gbic and other gbic gigabit modules.The source node splits the signal into two identical copies transmitting them simultaneously on two separate light paths. The receiver node selects the signal with the best quality.
