Lecture/talk

MRFSAF-09

Material Science research is always radiating complexity though contributing to make involved streams rich as subject and bringing changes in lifestyle of society. Materials by class are prone to keep their characteristics as secret which prescribes an approach to inter and multidisciplinary research.
Energy technologies, Defense, Space, Industry all such sectors are constantly searching for materials with longer lifetimes and of more tolerance to radiation and research is encouraged to meet this goal. An additional protocol is to be pursued to grow body of data on the behavior of materials under specified conditions. The whole scenario underlines the necessity of understanding material properties with great precision. How far the frontier experimental state-of art facilities and computational resources can bring paradigm shift in precision measurement of materials is an issue needs to be addressed. Few outstanding scientists whose exceptionally creative works open up new frontiers in material research will discuss selected topics of material science in the ambiance of “SANTINIKETAN” and in the backdrop of a recently developed research laboratory with state – of – art facilities to enlighten the august audience about options of employing probes and material treatments to make further progress in material research.
