When shopping for a Valentine’s Day card in the next few days, one with flowers or hearts on the front with a nice poem inside might just be about right.

Yet that may not be enough for the more nerdy shopper out there. So thanks to Stephanie Burrows-Fox it is now possible to get hold of Valentine’s card featuring your favourite scientists.

Burrows-Fox is selling the cards in packs of 16 on the retail website Etsy with each card containing a cartoon of a scientist together with a cheesy one-liner.

So how about a Valentine’s card with a cartoon Stephen Hawking together with the line “you make space-time stand still”? If that doesn’t quite appeal then maybe the “when hearts collide” card with Brian Cox or the Werner Heisenberg card with “I’m certain about you” on it?

The cards cost £10 for 16 (excluding postage) but as they are “printed on quality business card stock” it apparently shouldn’t feel like a rip-off.

If you want to get your hands on the cards in time for 14 February, you will have to get in quick.

In the meantime, how about thinking up your own science-based Valentine’s cards with cheesy one-liners?

How about Thomas Edison: “you light up my life” or Christiaan Huygens: “let’s make waves”.

So physicsworld.com readers, can you do any better?
