Charly Leblanc is a PhD student contributor to Physics World. He studies in the Quantum Optoelectronics and Nanophotonics team at Pascal Institute in France. Charly is working on topological photonics, on exciton-polaritons, but also on analogue physics to emulate inaccessible systems such as black holes. His website is www.charlyleblanc.net

All-optical switch has high extinction rate and operates at room temperature
Faster light is just one benefit of a new family of topological insulators
Physics World is now offering early-career scientists the opportunity to work alongside our award-winning journalism team to write and publish news stories for the global scientific community.
We provide training and mentorship to graduate students who are eager to write about the most exciting new research results, and offer them the opportunity to publish their work on a site that’s read by professional scientists all over the world.
