Jacob Marks

Jacob Marks is a PhD student contributor to Physics World. As an undergraduate at Yale University, US, he studied physics, maths and philosophy, and conducted particle-physics research at CERN before turning his attention to the quantum world. Now he is completing his PhD in physics at Stanford University, US, where his research focuses on the curious concept of topology, which could one day help us make better quantum computers. When not immersed in equations, Jacob loves to write about science and philosophy on his blog The Silhouette of Science. In his spare time, he climbs rocks, brews kombucha and dabbles in origami.
