Rosaria Cercola is a contributor to Physics World and a PhD candidate in physical chemistry at the University of York in Caroline Dessents' group. She is studying electronic transitions in gaseous ions via photodepletion action spectroscopy. The main scope is to understand the properties of organic and inorganic species in the absence of any media.
During her free time, she is learning Arabic, doing pilates and travelling across Europe; but mostly, she is eating.
New methodology vertically aligns 2D materials
Controlled “crazing” can colour polymers for many possible applications
A wearable and implantable device provides a cheap and practical means of producing and storing energy from human movements
Robots made from identical, independent units can perform tasks collectively
Physics World is now offering early-career scientists the opportunity to work alongside our award-winning journalism team to write and publish news stories for the global scientific community.
We provide training and mentorship to graduate students who are eager to write about the most exciting new research results, and offer them the opportunity to publish their work on a site that’s read by professional scientists all over the world.
