Sam Jones

Sam Jones is a PhD researcher in theoretical physics at the University of Leeds, UK, and a student contributor for Physics World. His research focuses on quantum gravity, quantum information science and black holes. Specifically, he models thermalized harmonic oscillators to investigate the fundamental nature of space–time, with the aim of answering the question: if it were to be an emergent phenomenon, what could it be emergent from? He holds both a BSc and an MPhys in theoretical physics, also from Leeds. Outside of academia, he is an avid traveller, cyclist and cook.
