Yousra Farhani

Yousra Farhani is a PhD student contributor to Physics World. Yousra currently pursuing her doctoral research in quantum computing at the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen, within the Novo Nordisk Foundation Quantum Computing Programme (NQCP). Her work focuses on fault-tolerant quantum computing, with an emphasis on quantum compilation, circuit optimization and error correction for scalable quantum architectures. She is particularly interested in bridging theoretical advances with practical implementations for applications in chemistry and complex systems. Yousra is the founder of Quantum Africa, an initiative dedicated to democratizing access to quantum technologies and fostering a strong research and education ecosystem across the continent. Beyond her academic work, she enjoys travelling, creating digital art and exploring fashion design.
