Physics World Focus on Neutron Science 2015

Physics World Focus on Neutron Science 2015

The field of neutron science is in rude health, with two key facilities soon coming online – the upcoming European Spallation Source in Lund, Sweden and the China Spallation Neutron Source in Dongguan, China. Existing centres are setting new standards, too, by bringing in more industry users, improving how supercomputers can be combined with neutron data and employing muons as a complementary probe to neutrons. This focus issue also touches on what it is like to be an instrument scientist, as well as how more funding is needed to deal with the increased number of neutron users.
