Peter Gwynne

Peter Gwynne is a science writer and editor who has served as Physics World’s North America correspondent for more than 30 years. He earned a BA in metallurgy and an MEng in materials science, both from the University of Oxford. He spent more than a decade as science editor of Newsweek, after which he founded two science/technology publications, one based in Hong Kong and the other in Belgium. He also helped to start up two science publications in the US. Peter has written for a broad variety of general and professional publications, including the Financial Times, the New York Times, New Scientist, Nature, Science, IEEE Spectrum, Industrial Research and Photonics Spectra. He has taught science writing at MIT, Boston University, New York University and Northeastern University, and spent a semester as a visiting professor in journalism at the University of Wyoming. He has won the American Chemical Society's James T Grady award "for interpreting chemistry for the public" and three Aviation Space Writers awards for coverage of spaceflight and astronomy.
