NASA’s Ken Cooper describers how a PhD in physics put him on the path to a career in engineering
I’m managing editor of the Physics World website, helping our brilliant team of writers, contributors and editors to create a compelling mix of daily news, insightful analysis and high-impact multimedia for a global scientific audience. I have worked in scientific publishing for more than 20 years, following a physics degree at the University of Surrey and a short stint as a research petrophysicist for BP. I don’t have the chance to write many stories these days, but I still get excited whenever I talk to scientists about their work, and in particular how it might be exploited in commercial applications. If I’m not at work, you can often find me in the gym or running around the beautiful harbour here in Bristol.
